Concentration?!?

So this weekend our homework is to brainstorm 25 possible concentration ideas. I am having a difficult time coming up with different concentrations because I do not have a definite style. I had a lot of fun this summer making a hemp mask and a plaster mask. I am not sure if I want to make masks for the next six months but it's my only idea that I like so far.

I had so much fun on tuesday with our guest artist Diane. I never considered making art from found objects before but I am really happy with how my project is turning out. I still need to find something to tie both sides of my piece together but it think within the next few days I will stumble upon the perfect object to add!

Attention! Pit fire at my house has been postponed!

Not enough people signed up for the pit firing this friday. I am planning on having a pit fire at my house in November instead that way more people can get their pots in the pit!

PIT FIRE!!! OCT. 15TH

Hey everyone! next friday october 15th I am hosting a pit fire at my house. This is the first time I am trying a pit fire and I am really excited about it. Please come if you would like any ridiculously cool pit fired things :) My mom is planning on making tons of goodies (she is amazing at cooking/baking) and I have a trampoline and basketball hoop in my backyard so there will be plenty to do while the pit is being fired. It only take around 8 hours to fire it completly but I am going to need help!!!! this is going to be a really cool event and I would love it if everyone would come and check it out or lend a hand! There is a sign up sheet in amy's room for volunteering and so I can get an acurate count of how many pieces are going to be fired.

Family Project

For our next project we are suppose to make a piece from clay that represents some aspect of our families. My mother is the backbone of my family, she works full-time, cleans, cooks and does everything for us. I want to sculpt something from clay that  portrays my mother and my family as a unit.

Shocking Art

For my shocking art piece I was having a hard time decideing what issue I wanted to address. My teacher Amy lent me a book on controversial ceramics and I got a few really good ideas. I finally decided that I wanted to make a piece that addresses eating disorders, specifically bulimia. The picture below is my inspiration for my project by Marcel Duchamp. I want to make a "ready-made" piece using a toliet.. what are your thoughts?

Some summer projects

This summer I visited some beautiful places and I made a few pieces that were inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.

AP Retreat at Menucha

I had a really great experience this weekend at Menucha with the ap art class. The guest artist was really cool and I learned some new techniques. I really like the piece I made this weekend and hopefully it will turn into something I can include in my portfolio. The weather was really great and the Andy Goldsworthy project we made on sunday was really fun, my face even got sunburned. playing bop-it and catch phrase was a really good way to break the ice with everyone and ten fingers was probably the funniest game I have played in a long long time. I am really optimistic about this year, I believe that the more comfortable we get with each other and the more we learn together will make this year really special.
